a fashionable British horse-racing event held at ↑Ascot each year in June. Members of the ↑royal family attend some of the races, and many people go there for social reasons rather than sport. The third day of Royal Ascot is usually ↑Ladies' Day, for which many of the women present wear large and elegant hats.
