Plantagenet
Plantagenet [Plantagenet] BrE NAmE
the name of the family to which all the kings of England from 1154 to 1485 belonged. The first Plantagenet king was ↑Henry II and the last was ↑Richard III. The name came originally from Geoffrey, Count of Anjou in France (1113–51), who was the father of ↑Henry II. The Anjou family symbol was the plant à genêt or broom, a bush with small yellow flowers.
