a south-eastern US state, also known as the Bluegrass State. The capital city is Frankfort, and the largest city is Lexington-Fayette. It became a state in 1792. It produces agricultural products, coal and whiskey and is well known for breeding horses for racing. Its tourist attractions include the place where Abraham ↑Lincoln was born (near the village of Hodgenville) and Mammoth Cave National Park, a ↑World Heritage Site since 1981.
