the ˌEuropean ˈParliament 7 [European Parliament] BrE NAmE noun singular the group of people who are elected in the countries of the European Union to make and change its laws Culture: Between 1958 and 1979, the members of the European Parliament were chosen from the parliaments of the member countries, but they are now directly elected every five years by the people in those countries.
