Canterbury
Canterbury [Canterbury] BrE NAmE
a city in ↑Kent, England, with many fine old buildings, including the famous cathedral, the central church of the ↑Church of England. It became a special place for Christians to visit after Thomas Becket was killed there in 1170. It is now a popular tourist centre. Canterbury Cathedral was made a ↑World Heritage Site in 1988.
