Culture:
The Shakers’ official name is the United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing. The group separated from the ↑Quakers in England and moved to the US in 1774. They were called Shakers because they shook with emotion when they worshipped. Now only a few Shakers live in ↑New Hampshire and ↑Maine. Shakers are well known for the simple, elegant furniture they made.
