Lerwick [Lerwick] BrE NAmE
a town in the ↑Shetland Islands, the islands to the far north of Scotland. It is a fishing port and the administrative centre of the islands. In January every year the festival of ↑Up-Helly-Aa is held in Lerwick to celebrate the islands’ ↑Viking past.
