(in British ↑legend) the men of high rank who served King Arthur. They are often shown in pictures wearing heavy ↑armour and riding horses. They sat at a round table so that none of them would appear to have a higher rank than the others. The best-known Knights include Sir ↑Galahad, Sir Gawain and Sir Lancelot.
