Houston
Houston [Houston] BrE NAmE
the fourth largest US city and the largest in ↑Texas, named after Sam ↑Houston. It is a financial, commercial, cultural and industrial centre, especially for the oil industry. The city is also a major port connected to the ↑Gulf of Mexico by the Houston Ship Canal. It has two major universities, Rice University and the University of Houston, and the ↑Lyndon B Johnson Space Center is also there.
