a small eastern state in the US, named after a ↑Native American people. Its capital city is Dover and its largest city is Wilmington. The northern part of the state is industrial, with a large chemical industry, and the southern part agricultural. Delaware was one of the original ↑thirteen colonies and is sometimes called the First State because it was the first to accept the US Constitution.
