Act of Parliament [Act of Parliament] BrE NAmE
(in Britain) a new law which has been approved by Parliament. After a ↑bill has been passed by the ↑House of Commons and the ↑House of Lords and it has received ↑royal assent, it becomes an Act of Parliament and therefore part of British law.
