Adam's apple
ˌAdam's ˈapple [Adam's apple Adam's apples] BrE NAmE noun the lump at the front of the throat that sticks out, particularly in men, and moves up and down when you swallow Word Origin: mid 18th cent.: so named from the notion that a piece of the forbidden fruit became lodged in Adam's throat.
